Internships
The IDEA Center offers a limited number of internships during the academic year and summer, providing students with hands-on experience at the intersection of innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and commercialization. Interns work alongside IDEA Center staff and Notre Dame researchers to help advance technologies, support startups, evaluate market opportunities, and contribute to the University's innovation ecosystem.
Opportunities may include roles such as Technology Commercialization Analyst, Technology Development Analyst, Business Development Analyst, and Venture & Partnership Analyst. Technology Commercialization Internship
The Technology Commercialization Internship provides students with real-world exposure to technology transfer and innovation commercialization. Interns work with emerging technologies developed by Notre Dame researchers across a wide range of fields, from healthcare and engineering to artificial intelligence and advanced communications.
Through market research, technology assessment, and commercialization strategy development, students gain valuable experience at the intersection of science, business, and innovation. The program provides a strong foundation for careers in consulting, product management, commercialization, entrepreneurship, and venture development.

Technology Commercialization Analyst
The Technology Commercialization Analyst (TCA) role provides an opportunity for highly motivated students—particularly those with STEM backgrounds—to evaluate early-stage technologies developed at Notre Dame and assess their commercial potential. Analysts conduct market, competitive, and technology assessments while learning the IDEA Center's commercialization framework and gaining exposure to innovations across a variety of industries.

The Technology Development Analyst (TDA) supports the advancement of university inventions by assessing and improving their commercial readiness. Responsibilities include conducting technical research, reviewing scientific literature, collaborating with research teams, evaluating technical feasibility, and assisting with studies designed to advance early-stage innovations.

Business Development Analyst
The Business Development Analyst (BDA) supports the IDEA Center's licensing and commercialization efforts by helping identify pathways to market for university innovations. Students gain exposure to technology commercialization, business strategy, and partnership development while building analytical, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Venture & Partnership Analyst
