MaryBeth joined the IDEA Center in April 2022 as the Problem Validation Program Coordinator, and transitioned to Researcher Liaison Program Manager (RLPM) in the 2025 IDEA Center reorganization. She now serves as the main point of contact for faculty in science (Physics & Astronomy, Math, Applied & Computational Math & Statistics), engineering (EE, CS&E, CE&EE&ES), Architecture and the Library System, supporting researchers in identifying patentable inventions, understanding commercialization pathways, and navigating the University’s technology transfer process.

A Notre Dame alumna, she came back to South Bend from the Oil & Gas industry where, as a geologist, she first worked interpreting data for O&G companies before moving to the service sector. In her roles in software Technical Sales Management she focused on problem discovery, customer needs, wants and motivations, and solving problems through a customer-first, empathetic approach that created trust, strong relationships, and repeat-customers. She strives to use these same principles in her RLPM role.

MaryBeth earned her Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences from The University of Notre Dame, and her Master of Science in Geological Sciences from Brigham Young University.
