Benjamin Sheyko

Ben Sheyko serves as the Technology Development Program Manager at the University of Notre Dame’s IDEA Center, where he advances university innovations from early-stage research toward commercial application. As part of the Technology Commercialization team, Ben evaluates the technical and commercial readiness of inventions, identifies development needs, and coordinates activities that reduce the risks of bringing emerging technologies to market. His responsibilities include assessing technical maturity, validating problem-solution fit through stakeholder engagement, supporting faculty and startups in pursuing translational funding, and supporting IDEA Center funding for proof-of-concept and technology development projects. He collaborates with faculty researchers, entrepreneurs, industry partners, and funding organizations to strengthen the commercial potential of Notre Dame technologies.

Before joining the IDEA Center in 2020, Ben held scientific, engineering, and leadership roles across healthcare companies and early-stage university startups. At Siemens Healthcare, he worked as a scientist in the Technical Operations group, supporting the manufacturing, development, and quality systems of a variety of point-of-care diagnostic products. He later led the assay development team at AgenDx Biosciences, a molecular diagnostics startup spun out of the University of Notre Dame, where he gained experience in product development, technical strategy, fundraising, and early-stage company operations. He subsequently contributed to other Notre Dame startups in technical and commercialization-focused roles before joining the IDEA Center.

Ben earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 2011 and a Master of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2014.
