Keian Greenwood Bee Brand

Describe your company: “Bee Brand is an online marketplace for beekeepers to convert their hobby into a small business, helping them market and sell their products to health-conscious consumers that are struggling to find local honey. The goal is to reduce the burden involved with selling honey, connect the beekeeping community, and educate others about the bees.”

Why did you apply to Race to Revenue, and what are you hoping to get out of the experience?

“I applied because of my extreme passion for entrepreneurship. It has always been my goal to work on my venture full-time, and this internship offers me the perfect opportunity to build something I can be proud of. I am also excited to work alongside other like-minded entrepreneurs, to learn from them, and to help them reach their goals.”

How have you been helped so far in your venture, and what sort of mentoring are you looking for in the future? “Abeera Akhtar has been my IDEA Center Venture Coach since I submitted my idea in the beginning of the year. She has been immensely helpful in speeding up the startup creation process. Most importantly, she has held me accountable, which has greatly helped me stay motivated and on top of all the work involved in starting a company.”

What do you want to learn more about, relating to business development in general or your own company/venture specifically? “I would love to learn more about the marketing side of starting a business: creating a marketing plan, getting media attention, and building a brand. Also, I would love to learn more about website design and user experience: how to conduct A/B testing and collect user feedback.”

Fun fact: “Elon Musk, my role model in entrepreneurship, grew up reading two books a day, and he read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica at the age of 9. I highly recommend reading Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.”

Favorite place to get tacos: “Not tacos, but Chipotle burritos are the GOAT even if the guac isn't free.”
