Race to Revenue | Meet the Coach: Dan Sullivan

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
"I grew up in South Bend, IN and now live in Granger, IN. I spent 10 years in Chicago in-between."

What industries or business space are you most interested in?
Enterprise SaaS

What specific knowledge and practical experience do you bring to your R2R coaching?
"I've been working in the start-up space for over seven years. I initially worked at a Venture Studio where I oversaw Product Management. We built MVPs for start-ups, made minor seed investments, built custom products for Enterprise organizations and even build our own idea. One such idea was Crowdfind, an Enterprise software application I co-founded and was president of for two years. I recently left Crowdfind to join Sketch, a Series A start-up. I am helping them build out their sales and customer management workflows. I have experience in client management, growth, product management and raising capital. I also have made a lot of mistakes along the way, which is always valuable."

Mid-way through Race to Revenue, what have you learned from the Racer(s) you are coaching? What has surprised you so far in your role as a coach?
"I am honestly impressed by the drive exhibited by all of the Racers (not just the Jüke team). That said, I have really enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm from the Jüke team and watching Liv use her design chops to influence the future of the company. It's always energizing to speak with passionate people."

What is your favorite saying or words-to-live-by?
"
I don't have any that come to mind off-hand, but in general, my recommendation to people is to stay curious, empathetic and be open to failure. These sound like cliches, but I sincerely believe you can accomplish a lot simply by being open minded and willing to take a chance."
