McCloskey New Venture Competition
Looking forward to competing next year, here's what to expect:
The McCloskey New Venture Competition is a signature event in the innovation ecosystem at Notre Dame. It serves as an opportunity to test the validity of ideas and innovations and allows students to develop skills directly transferable to the commercial market. The competition is open to all current Notre Dame students and alumni and encourages entrepreneurs to refine business plans, receive mentorship, and compete for prizes that include resources and funding. The competition is designed to provide participants with an experience designed to strengthen startup skills from insight provided by a panel of judges that includes angel investors, venture capitalists, successful entrepreneurs, and other startup experts, providing the solid foundation necessary to launch ventures.
Look for 2021-22 dates soon, or email Patti Reinhardt for more insight, including ways to sponsor next year's event.
The McCloskey's process:
- Round 1: Submit a simple two-page overview of your concept and create a two-minute video pitch.
- Round 2: Choose to work with an experienced mentor to learn about the business model. Write and submit a transitional business plan.
- Semifinals: Thirty semifinalist teams will present a six-minute pitch deck to a panel of judges at Notre Dame. Semifinal teams qualify for several sponsored prizes.
- Finals: Five finalists are selected to present their pitch in front of a live audience. One team will be selected for the $50,000 Grand Prize winner.
